Disclosure Concerning Privacy Protection

  1. We "Adeel Aslam"  provide a proper description in your user privacy policy or user agreement based on the actual usage of users' data.
  2. We also inform you how to disable personalized ads and location-based ads (the location-based ads are provided by us when our app has the permission to obtain users' location information).

    Phone users can at any time opt-out from processing of their personal data for personalized ads by selecting Disable personalized ads from Settings > Privacy > Ads or Settings > Privacy > HMS Core > Ads depending on their operating system version, and they can go to Settings > Privacy > Location > System services to disable location-based ads.

    Android users not using phones can go to Settings > Google > Ads to disable personalized ads that are based on Google Advertising ID (GAID) or reset the GAID.

    As laws of privacy vary across countries and regions, and different apps have different UIs, we do not provide specific suggestions about privacy policies.

Data Collection and Use

  • Collection of data:

    Ads SDK may collect the following user information to create ad categories and provide ad services to users:

    • Device information, such as open advertising identifier (OAID), device identifier, device brand, device model and type, operating system version, carrier information, location, screen resolution, language setting, CPU, memory, storage information, and device usage length. If users have installed the Google Mobile Services (GMS),  Ads will collect users' Google Advertising ID (GAID) (users can go to Settings > Google > Ads to disable the GAID-based personalized ad service or reset the GAID at any time);
    • Network information, such as the IP address, network type, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Internet access information. We will use your IP address to obtain your approximate location (city/country or region level). Wi-Fi hotspots and Bluetooth information can be used to obtain your approximate location (for example, at an airport or a bus station);
    • Service usage information, such as the ad events (for example, ad clicks) in apps and those of third parties, information (names and categories) about the apps that users have used in the past 30 days or 180 days, and videos that users have watched in  Video. For details about the storage location and retention period of users' personal data.
  • Use of data:

    We use users' personal data for the following purposes out of our legitimate benefits and interests:

    • To understand users' preferences and to push personalized ads that are more in line with users' interests. This helps advertisers launch proper ads to users at proper time. For more information, please refer to the Statement About Ads and Privacy.
    • To collect data about ad clicks and interactions. This may include the data generated when users click, download, and/or play different ad content in apps and those of third parties, or when they install and activate apps on store. We will use such data to analyze our cooperation with advertisers, and to collect relevant statistics to measure the ad effect. As we need to perform settlements with advertisers based on the ad placement and ad effect, we will share such statistical data with advertisers.
    • To perform statistical analysis and product improvement. This will help us better understand users' requirements and improve the quality and user experience of the products and services we provide now and those in the future.
    • To detect frauds (such as when attackers use automated software to click ads). This is to protect advertisers from paying unreasonable charges. For example, we can analyze how users interact with the touchscreen (such as how the screen is touched) and how the device is moving (based on the device's sensor data) to detect and prevent click fraud.
    • To ensure data security. This is to provide you with secure and reliable services.

      If a user agrees to us pushing location-based ads, we may provide you with ads that are suitable for the user's location based on his or her geographical location information. We do not store any information about the precise location of users' devices in Ads.

Personalized Ads and Non-personalized Ads

 Ads supports personalized and non-personalized ads.

  • Personalized ads are behavioral ads or interest-based ads (IBA). They are displayed based on user behavior across apps or services over a specific period of time. Such ads include but are not limited to ads launched based on the demographic characteristics or interests of the audience, for re-marketing purposes, or based on a target audience list.
  • Non-personalized ads are launched based on contextual information or background information instead of users' behavior. For example, such ads may be based on the contextual information of a device or content or an approximate geographical location. Non-personalized ads prohibit targeted ads based on the demographic characteristics or interests of the audience, those for re-marketing purposes, and those based on a target audience list.

Ads provide you with multiple options when it comes to personalized ads and non-personalized ads. You may:

  1. Choose "personalized and non-personalized ads". Ads will return personalized ads or non-personalized ads to you as per advertisers' ad placement.

    If you choose "personalized and non-personalized ads", We obtain user consent in accordance with applicable laws and regulations of relevant countries and/or regions.

  2. Choose "non-personalized ads". Ads will then only provide you with non-personalized ads.

  3. If you label your request as "non-personalized ads", Ads will only return non-personalized ads to your request. In this case, ads targeted at a specific gender, age range, app behavior, or app interest, or ads targeted at any other defined user groups shall not be applicable to your requests. This means that our ad inventories of these categories are not applicable to your requests, which will affect the return rate and fill rate of your requests.

    You can use the setNonPersonalizedAd method of the Ads SDK to request Ads for "personalized and non-personalized ads" or "non-personalized ads" based on whether users have given their consent.

    If you have integrated with the Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) V2.0, you can notify Ads whether users have given their consent to each purpose of the data use through the TC String. Ads will determine whether to launch a non-personalized ad or a personalized ad based on the user consent status. For details, please refer to IAB TCF V2.0.

Personalized Ads and User Consent

When you use the Ads SDK to access the personalized ad service, you will need to collect and use users' personal data and share such data with Ads to place personalized ads. As the Publisher, you must:

  • Obtain user consent for the collection and use of their personal data as well as the sharing of such personal data with possible ad technology providers in accordance with applicable laws and regulations of relevant countries and/or regions.
  • Keep records of user consent and inform Ads. We bear any and all consequences if you fail to or does not inform Ads promptly.
  • Provide users with a clear description of how they can withdraw their consent.

If a user agrees to receive personalized ads, you can request for "personalized ads and non-personalized ads". Ads will return personalized ads and/or non-personalized ads accordingly (based on advertisers' ad placement). If a user rejects to receive any personalized ads, you can only request for "non-personalized ads", and Ads will only return non-personalized ads to your request.

Ads has the right to supervise your privacy and data compliance. If Ads finds that there are any instances of your non-compliance, it has the right to require you to improve the compliance mechanism. We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate the provision of relevant services to you if you fail to or do not improve your compliance mechanism. In no way may risk assessment rights exempt you from any obligation or responsibility concerning user privacy.

We provide two methods to help you obtain users' options about whether to receive personalized ads.

  1. Ads User Consent SDK

    Ads User Consent SDK is a tool to collect users' options, which is suitable for mobile applications. By using Ads User Consent SDK, you can display to your users information about the ad technology providers that you choose to access (you can sign in to Ads Publisher Console, click Settings, and select Consent collection for EU users to set such ad technology providers), to obtain user consent for collecting, sharing, and using their personal data to launch personalized ads.

    Such available ad technology providers have provided Ads with relevant information indicating that they comply with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) regulations and our data use policies to protect the data of your users.

    You can perform the settings as follows:

    1. Select ad technology providers.

      Please sign in to Ads Publisher Console and select the ad technology provider that you intend to access in accordance with the settings guide in User Consent. If you select an ad technology provider, it means that the selected ad technology provider may use your users' personal data for the purposes of placing personalized ads and measuring ad effect.

    2. Use Consent SDK to collect user consent.

      Refer to the Consent SDK development guide to use Ads' consent request dialog box or create a consent request dialog box on your own to collect users' consent for personalized ads. You must obtain users' consent before your launch any personalized ads to them if the laws and regulations applicable to the place where such users are located require such consent.

  2. IAB TCF V2.0

    On August 21, 2019, the Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) V2.0 was launched after extensive industry consultation with IAB Europe and IAB Tech Lab members. The TCF V2.0 aims to help all parties in the digital advertising chain ensure that they comply with the EU's GDPR and ePrivacy Directive when processing personal data or accessing and/or storing information on a user's device. Ads was added to the Global Vendor List (GVL) of TCF V2.0 on September 18, 2020, with its Vendor ID being 856.

    Publishers that have integrated or will integrate with TCF V2.0 can refer to Integration with IAB TCF v2.0 to understand how Ads will operate the data contained in the ad requests based on the TC String of TCF V2.0.

    If you have not integrated with the TCF V2.0, you can still use the Consent SDK to send user consent information to Ads.

Advertising to Children

To comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable laws and regulations, you must inform Ads whether your users are children if your app or website contains any child-related content.

If you inform Ads that the current ad request is labeled for child users, Ads will not:
  1. Collect any personal data;
  2. Place any personalized ads to children, but non-personalized ads will still be delivered to children;
  3. Request ads from third-party DSPs.

We bear any and all consequences caused by sending ads to children's devices due to your failure to inform us of the user identity or the correct user identity.
